Project Overview

In Line Electronics have been completing a staged commercial access control upgrade for an operational manufacturing facility, delivered progressively across multiple site visits.

The project extended controlled access across 20+ doors spanning reception, warehouse, laboratory, administration, server room and production areas. Ageing or unmonitored door hardware was replaced with a centrally managed electronic access control system.

The work was divided into discrete stages. Some covered several doors within a particular area, while others addressed a specific infrastructure requirement. This allowed the client to prioritise each stage as required without undertaking a single large-scale changeover.

Working Within an Existing Facility

The upgrade covered a mix of internal and external doors within an established industrial building. Several locations had no existing access control cabling, requiring new cable routes and containment to be planned around the building’s layout.

This included galvanised steel conduit where secure mechanical protection was required outdoors, along with new access points in select ceilings and door areas so cabling could be installed cleanly and with minimal disruption.

Key Project Requirement

Maintaining Site Access Throughout the Works

Each stage was planned around the facility’s operational requirements so staff could continue moving safely through key areas while readers, locking hardware and access control equipment were installed or upgraded.

One stage involved relocating existing access control hardware from an at-capacity server rack into an adjacent utility cupboard to improve long-term serviceability. The work was completed within a defined window to keep interruption to gatehouse and boom gate access as brief as possible.

Our Solution

An Inner Range access control system incorporating ILAM hardware was installed, using HID Signo smart readers and ES2000 monitored electric strikes across a mix of internal and external doors.

The completed system provides centralised management of credentials and access permissions across reception, office, laboratory, server room and production areas from a single platform.

Monitored door reed switches and local alarm or strobe indication were also installed at select locations, while new cabling and containment supported doors where no suitable pre-wiring was available.

Scope of Works

  • Access control extended across close to 20 doors
  • Inner Range ILAM access control hardware
  • HID Signo smart readers
  • ES2000 monitored electric strikes
  • Door monitoring and local indication at select locations
  • Relocation of existing access control equipment
  • New cabling and protective containment
  • Centralised programming and commissioning

Project Outcome

The staged rollout has provided the client with a scalable, centrally managed access control platform across close to 20 doors, with each stage delivered around the changing requirements of the site.

Security has been strengthened across reception, amenities, laboratory, administration and production areas, while management can now administer staff credentials and access permissions from a central platform.

Relocating critical access control equipment has also improved long-term serviceability, while the completed infrastructure provides a practical foundation for future doors and further expansion.
